Wilson Isidor has signed a new contract with Sunderland, committing his future to the club until 2030. The 25-year-old striker’s importance was underlined this week as the Black Cats finalised the long-term deal.
Isidor joined Sunderland on loan from Zenit Saint Petersburg in August 2024 before making the move permanent the following February. He has since made 83 appearances for the club, scoring 19 goals. Despite facing strong competition for a starting role last season, the Haiti international has been assured of a prominent part in the squad’s plans, especially with the added demands of Europa League football this term.
Director of football Florent Ghisolfi said the new contract reflects Isidor’s value to the team’s identity. “Wilson has been an important part of the journey this club has been on, from fighting for promotion to establishing ourselves back in the Premier League,” Ghisolfi stated. “What represents Sunderland is his attitude and commitment to the team.”
Isidor expressed his happiness at extending his stay on Wearside. “I’m very happy to continue my journey with Sunderland,” the striker said. “Playing in the Premier League and representing Haiti at the World Cup have been special moments for me, and now I’m focused on continuing to improve, helping the team and giving everything I can for the supporters.”
The club moved to secure his future after the departure of Eliezer Mayenda this summer, with manager Regis Le Bris having previously confirmed Isidor was not for sale. His new deal runs for four more seasons, providing stability as Sunderland prepare for their upcoming fixtures. The striker will be looking to add to his goal tally when the Black Cats face West Ham United at the Stadium of Light this Saturday.
