He also thinks that the club needs to settle into the top ten and enjoy European football before aiming for the Champions League. Poyet is no stranger to Sunderland AFC co-owner Juan Sartori, a fellow Uruguayan, and he's happy to see that things have worked out since he first got involved with the club back in 2017. Poyet actually had the opportunity to return to Sunderland back in 2020 but opted against it, and he says he has no regrets about his decision.
