A Sunderland branding chief is set to offer his expertise to the rebuild at Sheffield Wednesday in reuniting with Owls CEO David Bruce, The Star understands. Bruce made the switch from Wearside at the outset of the takeover of Wednesday by American consortium Arise Capital Partners, making the move up from business chief to CEO after years of experience both at the Stadium of Light and in an important role in the MLS. Chamberlain led on Sunderland’s digital and marketing functions, some of which won awards in his time at the club. The former West Ham United and Barnet figure does not arrive as a replacement for long-serving head of communications Trevor Braithwait, who remains in situ. Chamberlain spent 12 years at Sunderland and appears to have already left the club ahead of his S6 arrival. The hire comes as part of Arise’s intention to build a greater and more fleshed-out infrastructure to how the club operates after years of neglect by ousted former chairman Dejphon Chansiri. Further names are set to be brought in across a handful of roles as the club’s c-suite structure is revitalised. Wednesday are in the early stages of a major on and off-field revamp heading into their fresh campaign in League One next season.
