Sunderland will be hoping to do another double over Newcastle United this season, following their remarkable return to the top flight under Regis Le Bris. The Premier League fixtures are out, and fans will be planning their away trips and counting down the days until the first derby clashes. The first derby of the campaign will take place at St James’ Park on December 5th, with Newcastle United then travelling to the Stadium of Light on May 1st. Sunderland came from behind to snatch all three points from their bitter rivals at St. James’ Park in March last season, with Brian Brobbey sealing a memorable victory in the 90th minute. Their triumph on Tyneside meant that Sunderland had completed a Premier League double over the Magpies, having also recorded a 1-0 win when the two sides met at the Stadium of Light back in December, thanks to a Nick Woltemade own goal. Sunderland will begin their 2026/27 Premier League campaign at Portman Road, travelling to face Ipswich Town on August 22nd, before welcoming Fulham to the Stadium of Light for the first home fixture of the campaign a week later. The Black Cats will be looking to build on their impressive performance last season, which saw them finish 7th in the league and qualify for the Europa League. With Regis Le Bris leading the team, Sunderland's fans will be eager to see how the season unfolds, especially in the highly anticipated derby matches against Newcastle United.
